SCOTLAND LIVE - BANDS TO WATCH!!

THE XCERTS - Crisis In The Slow Lane CD-EP

Whereas Carnoustie band Alto Elite have recently put out a two-track CD single that can rightfully be hailed as one of the finest slice of commercial indie strength to be heard in some considerable time, The Xcerts have now gone and released a two-track CD single that can justifiably be treated as two of the greatest indie anthems of some considerable time, with the lead track, in particular, being one of the best tracks of its kind you'll hear anywhere, anytime. “Crisis In The Slow Lane” opens with chiming guitar above steadily rolling rhythms as the emotive, plaintive, yearning vocal drifts strongly on top, an undercurrent of guitar adding extra depth, only then, at the end of the verse, for the band to just burst into flames with guitars rising up, the rhythm intensifying and the vocal so emotive that it just lifts you up and takes you with it, as this awesome sounding chorus just erupts into glorious life and makes you jaw-dropped in disbelief at how great it sounds and the effect it has. They then go back down for the next verse before taking off once more then, via a brief instrumental break, the whole thing just takes off into this amazingly strong anthemic chorus as it all just drives forward in a blaze of powerfully uplifting, indie glory. It's incredible and one stunner of a track that you'll play to the ends of the earth and back. “Weather Warning” opens stronger in a fury of guitar riffery before that highly emotive and impassioned vocal strides in and delivers this wondrous, strong song with highly charged emotion as the band gather strength and, in ahurricane of riffs and crashing rhythms, it all lifts off into something resmbli9ng a hook, before dropping back down even farther than before just to vocals and guitar, only then to gather forces and strength to take it all forward to the next slice of chorus, the song so strong and energetic as another supercharged slice of indie-anthem intensity rises up in all its majesty. A flurry of guitar break then heralds the band going into a more driving section of the song as the riffs accelerate, the rhythms surge and a mix of the emotive lead vocals and harmonies all fly towards a glorious end point – leaving you with only one thing to do – play it all again - now!!
