SCOTLAND LIVE - BANDS TO WATCH!!

TWIN ATLANTIC-A Guidance From Colour CD-EP

Debut EP from Glasgow indie-metal band with four tracks of Funeral For A Friend/Bullet For My Valentine-esque songs that are produced to perfection and mark a strength of ideas that the band exudes throughout. The songs are solidly guitars-driven with the opener, "Audience And Audio", a surging slice of indie-rock which erupts into life and weaves its way through a multitude of directions as it progresses, but never once losing sight of its purpose, never once straying from the fact that's it's an almost hook-free slice of metallic memorability that surprisingly keeps you hooked and gripped. The vocals are a mix of sung and roar, but always in tune and never overblown. "I Cave In" is altogether more obvious as a slice of infectious indie-rock, with more of a verse-chorus structure coming into play, the harmonies full of depth, the lead vocals ful of soaring passion, as the rhythm section drives it all forward and the hail of guitars rains down to sizzling effect. "Time Is The Enemy" is full of FFAF/Bullet-isms in terms of the arrangement and overal delivery as the faster paced slice of energetic indie rock, this time piles on the depths and expanses to provide this huge sounding mini-epic of solid intensity and catchy sensibility, the guitars and vocals ringing out to perfection as it all flies and rockets in delicious harmonies and titanium-tipped guitars, once more a great sense of dynamics keep the song from ever becoming obvious, and keeping you inexorably hooked on its intent, strong throughout and deliberately unpredicatable but ultimately repeat-playable and then some. The title track completes the picture, opening with ringing guitar delicacy before the drums gently crunch, the bass is languid and the sound of slowly moving, almost classic(al), rock density is revealed, a yearning vocal completing the ballad-esque picture. Gradually the song builds, the intensity increases and slowly it all rises up as the guitars beging to power up, the rhythm section starts to fire - and then the whole thing erupts in an absolutely spellbinding blaze of indie-rock glory, taking you along with it. About time Scotland took over from the rest of the UK - and this is just the start. You have to get this EP!!!
