DUNDEE LIVE - BANDS TO WATCH!!

INNER SIGHT - The Outlaw CD-EP

Glaswegian sextet who are absolutely sensational in concert with a debut CD that is really good but only provides a hint of the awesome power of this band in a live setting. That said, they unleash a forceful song with upfront vocals, driving drumming, solid bass, backdrop of swirling electronics and an undercurrent of guitar riffing on a song that takes off, shows excellent use of dynamics along the way, provides a mid-song break from the lead guitar which shines although it should glow white hot, while the vocals are a combination of yearning angst and melancholic optimism, as harmony vocals from male and female add extra depth to the choruses. All in all it's a heady trip that makes you want to play it more, the more you play it. “Save Me”, the other track on here, features the guitars more upfront that the first track and probably provides a closer picture to the band's live sound as the crunching rhythms really let loose while the synths and fx continue to soar and cascade around the central riffing heart of the beast as the multi-harmony lead vocals really lift off as the song proves to be a much more forceful offering than the first, and, played really loud, shows that this is a band that are taking a modern version of what's essentially indie space-rock, into wholly new and exciting musical dimensions. The two songs here are great – and this CD is really essential listening – but you have to catch them live for the full effect to sink in. For now, buy this and you won't regret it.
