SCOTLAND LIVE - BANDS TO WATCH!!

THE DRAYMIN -Heart Attack CD-EP

With a synth intro heralding that soaring surge of a fiercely emotive vocal, this single takes off into a driving verse before dropping down only to explode into life in a blur of synths, driving, indie-dance rhythms, pumping bass, strident guitars and those emotive, almost hollered, lead vocals that are the icing on a solid cake. The track itself, twists and turns, although not the catchiest of Draymin tracks, nevertheless possesses a solid heart which carries you along in its wake, the hook more of an uplifting verse than a chorus, yet the expansive arrangement and depths of what is a seriously strong track, still maintain the high standards this band has set itself. “Hold Your Position” is more like classic Draymin, this time with rolling rhythms, stumbling drums, emotive, soaring, intense lead vocals that really know how to deliver a song, as a river of synths and, primarily towards the end, guitars, flows along underneath. The song, as before, twists and turns, rises and falls, but, despite the juddery nature of some of it, nevertheless holds your attention and makes you want to listen to it over and over again. In essence, two more complex tracks from a band unafraid to wear its heart on its sleeve, get adventurous but never lose sight of the sheer passion and intensity of its performance on songs that still have this band at the top of the Scottish indie-rock tree
