DEBRASCO - The Joys Of Chaos CD

Unsigned band from Central Scotland with this album that features 14 main tracks and three bonus tracks. First things first – we're talking rock; in actual fact, we're talking rip-roaring, straight ahead, no-holds-barred, adrenaline rousing, feel-good, mightily memorable rock 'n' metal – and you know what? Track after track after track, the fun never stops coming. The first six tracks have the riffing splendour of everything from Thunder to The Ramones and all points in between, the near five minute “Got It Made” being the finest graft of metal on punk that you've heard in ages as this rampaging wall of guitars fires all guns over the crunching rhythm section as the vocals drive, holler and soar to perfection, allowing the splendour of the rolling verses, the heady hooks and the catchy choruses to go positively volcanic in a way that is immensely enjoyable not to mention insanely danceable, every time you play the thing. Before that , we began with the deep bass boom, driving drumming, searing heat guitar riffing and ever rising vocals on the fast-paced attack of “Down” that features a fast-paced phased vocal chorus that would not have sounded out of place on a vintage Ministry album, as the thunderous rock roars ahead, a bit like Funeral For A Friend playing “Jesus Built My Hot Rod” and every bit as massive as that description implies. “Criminal” features this huge scything guitar riff like something off the first two Dictators albums as a Lydon-esque vocals drive the verses into this multi-tracked chorus which really catches fire before the next verse starts more brooding, slowly takes off and then erupts once more into that heady chorus. A guitar break along the way adds fuel to the fire as the whole thing lights up to perfection.”Soviet” hammers and swings like the finest of '90's UK rock 'n' metal bands, complete with an impassioned vocal that really hits the spot over the expansive backdrop of roaring guitars, beefy drumming and monumental bass work, another memorable chorus adding to the effect. “Narcolepsy” decelerates the pace thankfully and gives us something no less strong and strident, only more anthemic as the vocals veer from relatively softly sung to pure strength letting rip, in the blink of an eye, the guitars ringing out over the gentle crunch of the rhythm section before the whole band fires up into the heady choruses. Then comes the aforementioned “Got It Made” before it's right into the powerhouse of “Tell Me How You Feel” as another red hot slice of riffing, roaring, psychedelic guitar bursts, massive rhythm section rollercoaster and shouted but well sung vocals all combine to deliver this rage of a song that really hits the spot in terms of pace, passion, power and punch. So it goes – another 6 tracks of equally unforgettable driving rock 'n' metal roll before the strains of the one minute “outro” see things out as this monumental 14-tracker comes sadly to an end – only it doesn't!!! Two incendiary live tracks – that lose none of what you've just witnessed – and an alternative version of one of the previous tracks, all bring this huge sounding, stunningly played and sung album to an end, every bit as phenomenal as you might expect from what I'm saying here – just check it out!!
