DUNDEE RADIO/TV:
TAY-FM - "THE WEEKENDER" - Sunday Nights Weekly - 10pm-11pm
From Graeme, co-host of Tay-FM's "Wedekender", I received this:
"Tay FM have brought back the Weekender which went on a summer break after being on for six and a half years. It's now on Sundays at 10pm and features, along with new alternative music, local acts.
We're always appealing for bands to contact us either by sending in cds or giving us their myspace.com details so we can listen and download their tracks. We've played a lot of the bands that you've featured on your site (we just played The View last week and Big Big Sound were one of our favourites before the break) and we're always looking for more.
We always want to mention any local gigs and rely on bands to approach us to let us know when they are playing. Any gigs can be forwarded to us at The Weekender . CD's can be posted to:
The Weekender, Tay FM, 6 North Isla Street, Dundee.
If you have any new bands that you think we'll like then point them in our direction. I agree that the Dundee Scene (and Perth, and Fife) is producing a lot of great stuff at the moment and hopefully we can give
them a bit of exposure on the way".
Since that was written, The Weekender, hosted by Graeme and Frank, has been the single most essential, listening contemporary music show on local radio for months and months, featuring local bands and a fantastic selection of eclectic and indie-based tracks that you simply couldn't hear on any other radio programme in the UK. Support them, and listen in or tape it, and tell them what you think!!
Also, if you're a band and you want your gig mentioning on their website or the radio progs, then e mail the station at:
gigguide@tayfm.co.uk
WAVE 102:
For an interminably long time, this local radio station has steadfastly ignored the local music scene, but now a guy by the name of Richard Costello is trying to redress that balance with a regular show ona Saturday lunchtime that features local music and interviews with local artists. At time of writing, I've not had any contact from him or heard the programme, but as I do, this section will be updated to reflect that.
DUNDEE VENUES:
