THE DUNDEE SCENE - LIVE IN CONCERT

It's 2009 - in April, I'd been reviewing the best (and some of the not-so-best) unsigned bands on the Dundee - and Scottish - music scenes, for five years. In that time, I've attended well over 500 concerts (we originally said 350 but then I did a recount!!), and reviewed close on 300 in whole or in part. Although I did this for my own enjoyment, it's turned into one of the most unique musical archives in the history of Dundee and Scottish unsigned, mainly, contemporary music, which, I guess, is some kind of achievment, although I hardly think they'll give me the keys to the city for it. I'd probably only lose the things, if they did!!
Anyway, time to renew our acquaintance with live concerts as a new year and a new season begins. Who knows what delights will pass by this year but of one thing, you can be sure - if it moves me, then it'll be here.

JUNE 2009 UPDATE:
I decided to hang up my concert promoting shoes to concentrate more on the writing, review, radio, media and journalistic sides of what I do, as I see that as a way of helping get the bands and artists noticed a lot more than just sticking gigs on. Besides, I've been doing it on and off for 5 years, putting unsigned bands on at nearly every main venue in the city. So, on August 8th, the concert promotions side of Dead Earnest will end.
But even before then, a new regime has begun - I get a lot of people pointing out that what I write tends to be wholly enthusiastic and that they never get to read anything critical. Well, not wholly true, although I get the point. I don't like to be negative unless I can be constructive, but maybe when a band just leaves me feeling bored rigid, maybe I should say so - so I will!! Therefore, from June onwards..... you have been warned......
